Macbook Issues

Unread post by ShaunE »

Does anyone else have issues with regards to installing indicators and sounds on a MT4 platform when using a Mac. Ive read through the 'Installing Indicators' handout and searched this forum but nothing I see on my screen resembles whats in the handout. Step 3 is 'Select Template 1 or 2' and I don't have either to select anywhere.

Also on a side note Ive been a member of this forum for over a year now but with long hours working Ive hardly been on. What strategy are the majority of people trading now as I want at some stage to be in the live chatrooms and singing from the same hymn sheet as everyone else in there. There doesnt seem too many posts of late in some of the sections

Thanks Shaun

Hi Shaun!

The best way to get upto speed with everything is to join the skype room. The posts have reduced because we are all busy conversing exchanging ideas with the most active members in the skype group. Its not just a chatroom its almost like a office/pub! everything happens there....

Most recently we scalp the Dax30 on m1 chart using our strategy we call now AIMS Scalping Heroes 2.1 [formerly known as Apple Seeds and Cherries]

:)

ps: We trade Apples, Seeds and Cherries (cherry indicator available only in Skype) using Grant's Seed Trading Flow chart.

Hi Shaun,
Are you running a Mac version of MT4 or usual a virtual Windows system?

Guys thanks for the quick replies. With regards to the chatroom, I was going to join when I was truly up to speed with Setup 1 and 2. Having not seen much talk about these recently and seeing more mention of The Fruit I don't want to be that person in the chatroom asking the dumb questions because he hasn't done his practicing.

On the Meta 4 Trader I am using GoTrader Mac Version but can easily download another if this is the problem. My Mac is running the latest OS X Software yet only parts of the indicators load and when I look through the tutorials of how to install its all Windows based with regards to folder locations etc.

Where on the forum is the latest link to the Setup 1 and 2 (Aims Scalping Heroes 1 + 2). I am fairly confident using the old AIMS Setup 1 + 2 but didn't see too many recent posts on the forum about it so started looking at the Fruit method

Thanks Shaun

Hey Shaun, from memory there's an extra layer of folders in the Mac MT4, and I think the indicators folder you need is a sub folder to the "MT4" folder. I'm not at my computer for a couple days but when I am next I'll double check and let you know.
Cheers

My Mac installation follows this path, hope this helps. Obviously you need the correct indicators, sounds, profiles etc. in their corresponding locations....

Program files --> MT4 --> MQL4 --> Indicators
Program files --> MT4 --> MQL4 --> Experts
Program files --> MT4 --> Sounds
Program files --> MT4 --> Profiles
Program files --> MT4 --> Templates

Sam, Dave, Admin - Appreciate your help greatly. I guess thats the beauty of having a forum alongside the download package.

I just seem to be going through an information overload at the min, presented with so many different downloads and things to read throughout this forum. I really want to get up to speed and the 20 trades under the belt before I look at coming into the chat room and badgering you. Firstly I will see if I can get these indicators installed second time round!

Oh boy this is a struggle. Right Ive decided to get use a different platform as Go Markets doesnt have DAX on. Gone with GKFX as Ive seen it mentioned on here.

Couple of questions...

Are the majority of people using MT4 still or MT5?
Im faced with 6 different accounts when I go to register, Spread Betting, VIP, Standard Variable etc. Which one of these do I need?
Finally what leverage does everyone use when they set up one of these accounts. It says anything up to 400:1, whats the standard amount.

Thanks again, Shaun
