AIMS Entry ALert V5.1 AO filter

Unread post by Herbert »

Hey Steve. Till now i have not focused that much on dots during 1min trading, only using them as guideline (quick assessment).
At the moment I am setting up/migrating to m30 charts and multiple pairs. Thus alerting from the dots are coming up for me. :D

Setting filters to alert remotely or local via email etc. across multiple pairs is showing to be a hugely significant advantage.
First of all, compliments and thanks on creating such a powerfull and usefull feature.. :-c

I have come across a situation where i would like to take advantage of certain black dot "conditions". I have turned off "against purple" and reverted to AO level filter to discriminate these.

From the picture, top left, the circled powder-blue dot was a blue dot filtered by AO value, away from purple. The following red dot is a successfull black dot turned to red alert.
The 3rd circled blue dot, which was a black diamond against purple, i seem unable to turn it to a powder-blue via AO filter, thus giving me an unwanted alert.

My question: It seems that dots against purple does not respond to AO level filter?

Please advise if i am missing the boat or do u see the same.
Thanks.

Regards
Herbert

Hey Herbert

thanks for the compliments :D I'm glad you're enjoying the features of the indy.

If I understand your question correctly (I've had a very long day so bear with me if I've got the wrong end of the stick) you're looking to filter a long trade when AO exceeds a certain value. In your chart, you have a blue dot suggesting a long opportunity and AO is below zero line - the AO is not too tall, thus validating the long and thus no powder blue. Had AO been a positive value, larger than your limit, you would have had a powder blue dot. The previous perfecto red dot is the inverse of your blue dot, in terms of AO.

So, AO filter and the powder blue dot warns you against taking shorts when AO is too low below the zero line; likewise against longs when AO is too high above the zero line. It's all designed to warn you off trading when price has already stretched in the direction you are looking to trade. Trading away from the stretch, would be like releasing a catapult. The alternative would be like pulling on an already-stretched catapult.

Does that make sense and answer your question?

cheers
Steve

You make perfect sense Steve. Your reasoning on trade principle drawn from AO is 100%, which the said blue dot does illustrate.
(You just highlighted yet another strategy angle) \:D/ When one associates yourself with the quality people and things of life, oppotunities are boundless...
I think i may have had a longer day yesterday than you have.... :))

Let me see if i can get my explanation out of my head to my fingers this round :D
Lets assume now I want that blue dot 02:00 (AO @-0.00344) filtered on the opposite scenario of it not being close enough to AO ZL, ie: like the later blue dot at 4:30 with gator sleeping-GRB, (AO @+0.00001), a black dot within +- 6 pips from purple/against.

Note: With purple filter on, these 2 blue dots were black dots.

So, in this particular approach, I am attempting to get the 02:00 blue dot filtered AO > abs|0.0012| and the 04:30 blue dot not filtered based on AO < abs|0.0012|.

I just need to know if i am missing something obvious.
Thanks for your time.

Herbert

Good morning Herbert

I'm relieved I made sense with the first reply, let's see if I can get two strikes before my second coffee of the day ...

You'd like an abs AO test to filter size regardless of which side of ZL ?

I can add that option if that's what you really need? Let me know...

cheers

Strike 2!!!! You got it! I don't know what brand of coffee you are having but it seems to be good shit... B-)
That would be awesome Steve. No need to rush it, on the to-do list will do till next release etc.

Cable m30 black-dot @ AO < 0.0012 just did it's magic again off yesterday's high, right through pivot +43 pips and going.
If i can sustain this i will have to start donating to your causes...
