Why is there a MAX 2Hr Per Session Trading Rule?

Unread post by immy »

Jozef said, "My time is up, I won't trade more than 2 hrs past LO". Great Jozef see you later.
Few minutes later I took the above two trades (posted in the previous post B2 T10-11 viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29&p=28854#p28852)

I was following the market, it was not going anywhere until the end of the 2nd hr post LO. It was about that time I saw that there was a possibility it might break into a 5 down. That 5 later turned into a 3 and so another trade happened.

A frowny face Jozef gave me DS0 for this effort. While he is completely right from his point of view here is what I think.

Cant repeat writing what I wrote in skype so I'll attach a screenshot from my skype window. (Skype does not allow copy paste of a group of message anymore. Idiots as always)

Image

If the market moves, and you can keep your wits in check , stay disciplined and focus for longer than 2hrs or probably 2- 3 sessions of 2hrs ... there is nothing stopping us from trading ...

the 2hr rule has two benefits.1. most of the moves occur during the first 2 hrs. But we know how many times it actually doesn't do anything within the 2 hrs and moves the rest of the day. so there is that too.

2. us humans can't stay focused at one thing , with 100% performance levels , for over 2 hrs. but one can take a quick 10min break and you're back ready for another 2hr session. plus everyone is different. with 5-10 years of experience one might have leanred to expand this t o3 or 4 hrs per session. possible

3. Emotional Overload. Traders who are new to trading, are very emotional about individual trades. A very good 2R trade makes them jump and sing and be happy for the rest of the day, a little -1R rent or 2 makes them go NUTS and crazy , depressed, frustrated and angry all day. some even retaliate like they did against their parents and employers... β€Š they take revenge only to experience more pain.

if its like that for a trader at least the "torment" and toil can end at the end of this 2 hr period.

But What if you really enjoyed the process... You did not feel pain, you actually felt joy and fun.

However, if you were like me, who lives for the fun of trading. Its such an enjoyable experience for me. Putting a 2hr limit on me would be like hiding candy from a kid, like taking a bottle of milk from a hungry baby, like taking alcohol from an addict (ahem) ... i can go on.. the point being, as long as trading is not an enjoyable rather stressful and painful experience, you have to put that 2hr limit so that you don't end up destroying your account in one day.

[the above was written impromptu as a reply in skype. Excuse any mistakes, but then again most of my posts are like that :p]

While I was trying to show that you saw this setup where purple is not correct. Maybe one can do some research on this pattern and find if this actually gives an edge. Then may be we could call this Jozef setup and take it :D

Building on YD's example today you took a long trade using the same pattern.

The J Trade

Here is another example. I share this so that you can see the chart at the time of the setup without hindsight benefit.

Updated: 11.41

I found another example of that J Setup on EJ H1

HEre is H1 chart followed by H4 chart

Important Point: MAY BE this is a Jozef Setup? you can do a back test for the last year or so and see if it is actually a profitable setup. Maybe we could added to our plans?

Gold Setup 1 Not Taken YD 5 Dec 2017

Unread post by immy »

Here is a nice looking Setup 1 but I missed it ... due to "I was not entirely sure about the setup" there was this spike up that ruined it for me.

Oh well... missed it. Thanks SAM for calling it out.

You must have a trade setup with both H1 and H4 showing the correct pattern.

Below you see H1 and H4 Charts

I have marked the H1 Box that we consider for S1 Breakouts ... That translates into the blue box on the H4 chart. It marks the area exactly.

You see a clear open gator with even purple on the correct side on h4. You see the same on H1. You see a clear AO peak RED on the h1 chart, followed by a cross of ZL and price goes towards purple. then it forms the tight box and signal of S1 short. that is Your SEtUP ... Thsi is Setup 1 on CTF and its usually a HUNT Seed on 5XHTF ...

Quick Note : M1 Post News Trading

Unread post by immy »

I have noticed over the last 2 years of News Trading using Snorms News Trading Method / excellent EA, that there is usually a great Setup 1 and Hunt Signal after the initial news Spike. Since we are trading the M1 Chart as well as utilising News Trading Method using Snorms News Trader, Here is one thing I have added to my M1 trading plan for the rest of december on the next year.

We will ALWAYS TRACK and possibly trade high impact news on the relevant currencies. We will trade EUR/USD for Euro News, USD/JPY and/or EUR/USD for US News and GBP/USD for UK news.

DAX B2 - T12 - M5 / M1 Classic Breakout near NYO

Unread post by immy »

This trade was asfter ADP news and around NYO.
Though it had the potential to do some wonders. but the market did not agree.

HEre is how it started.

Some sort of Setup 1 on M5, decided to take it

Image

Below M5/M1 Chart outlook. Its important to see it this way

Image

Trade was in while Pedro (accelleratum) was talking about his fanny tickling or something like that .

Image

Soon I had the chance to minimise risk by moving SL above current swing high on the m1 chart

Image

You need to have either one of these two price action confirmations after trade is in. Specially the S1 breakouts.

1. You want to see the market just break the levels and never looks back. easy peay
2. If not the above, you want it break and if it pulls a little you want to see if it "bounces" off the levels it "broke", yes that level that you've used to set up your initial pending order. it could be M1 or M5 or combination of both levels. As shown below. you want to see taht price reacts to it and brings in, in this case, more selling and it drops.

Image

So the initial retest in the pic below was almost ok.

Image

If retest is not successful we will be either stopped out or we will do what we did here.

Image

If this bar was cherry it would have been better.

Image

End of Story

For me its a DS1

but if you are following your T20' Stage 1-3 ... it would be DS0

AUD/USD H1 Cherry SEll PO [AIMS HUNT RADAR] by snorm

Unread post by immy »

AIMS The Hunt RADAR Panel [BETA]

Snorm has an Xmass Gift for all of us.

So we have this panel which tells us if there is a signal on all the charts we have on display.

Below I saw 5 signals. Click on AUD/USD chart and it took me to that chart. I liked the signal and put PO as below.

Radar Chart

Image

Click on AUD/USD and Saw Cherry so PO is in

H1

Image

I saw above New Peak, and pullback. All seems good. Lets look at M15, is there a good setup 1 pattern?

M15 Chart

Image

Seems good to me. lets have a quick look at H4, just like that. just to see overall pattern.

H4

meh, not very imppressive but its ok. H1 is Cherry not Setup 1. If it was setup 1 and H4 was like below, i won't take i.t

I will now Limit Posting to this Journal

Unread post by immy »

I have noticed that either forum is no busy or I am posting way too much information

So what I'll do is that I'll cut down on the posting.

I will limit this Journal to DAX T20's and Start another Journal for H1 T20's.

cheers
