Where is the Thanks Button?
When I read a post, I just want to thank the member. Now it looks like I need to post.
Admin, please bring that back so that we can simply convey our thanks.

THANKS ;)

Yeah that would be great. How about a thanks and a superlike bottom or other emotions just as fb
Trading is a pattern recognition game. As traders we make decisions in an uncertain environment. Anything can happen. We trade the setups with the highest probility and reflect on our trades in samplesizes of 20. It is our job to keep our mind(s) focused, relaxed, enjoyed and to trust ourself in the proces of staying diciplined to our trading plan. We plan our trade and then trade our plan.

I for one... like "acknowledgement" and the feeling that this person stopped, read, and then took the time to reply... I love it.

a Thanks button has the same effect as a 'Like' button.

yes the idea of a thanks button is good, it allows us to express appreciation.
so why not express this in words? The simple fact is that 99% across all
forums are a very silent majority - they simply don't post much if
anything at all, so a button makes it easier for them

however the problem is not with thanking but when thanks are recorded
and members are ranked according to the number of thanks they receive

This can encourage competitiveness, it can even delude members into
believing they have special trading abilities that they don't have, and
even more dangerously it can induce others to look to them as some
kind of leading light when they're really not.

That absolutely was my personal experience, my high 'thanks' ranking bore
absolutely no relation to my pitiful trading results.

By extension you can get 'ranked' simply by posting and not by trading.

I know members who have actually stopped posting around the 490 mark
because they modestly simply don't want the 'Master Trader' tag

that's a great pity as they had been good contributors.

In my case when I was dubbed 'Master Trader' I thought of the line
from the Monty Python film

'He's not a messiah, he's just a very naughty boy!'

so it helped not to take it very seriously.

but then conversely and curiously I only really started to progress
after being tagged in that way.

Although it was largely unconscious it was as though I felt a responsibility
to act more like a master trader and stop taking idiotic reckless trades

This absolutely is a game of psychology

Great post Kiravon ... "THANKS". I requested forum admin to remove that "modification"... I do not like the post based "Master and Virtuoso Trader" stuff but as you pointed out, originally it was only intended to highlight the levels of trading "we want to achieve" and honestly, achieving the master and virtuoso trading in reality might be a lifetime thing. great post indeed

.
.

As you may or may not know I'm no fan of the black dog system,
it's fatally flawed, however as memory serves I believe there is one thing
they may have got right ( and I believe others use this tactic )

that 'lessons' or 'units' etc are released to members based on their
activity and participation.

To be honest I don't know if it actually worked but the idea seems shrewd,
that you don't really get the value from your membership unless you
contribute

Now I'm guessing that most would at least want to post until they
get the full system and indicators by which time they would see how
painless it is, and so they might continue

However the truth seems to be that most have the staying power
of a fruit fly and there is probably nothing much anyone can do
to change that
