I hope you are doing well.

I have a very straightforward and simple way to validate my trades.

1. The price is away from the emas. I use 50 for overall trend.
2. HTF HAVE to had a impuls and pullback to the trading direction, CTF EMAS touched ( minimizes countertrend trades and leave ot the "reading momentum stuff as i have noticed that i cant do that)
3. When the HTF pullback is broken i can look for a trade on the CTF. (and when HTF price goes inside the 10 ema i consider the HTF box as the levels that needs to be broken.
4. MAX 5 ( sometimes 6, but not for a seed) candles in the impuls and max 5 candle pullback. Same or less count of the P. example TP, TTP, TTTPP,TTTTP and so on. The impuls is valid with 1 seed in it as well. They dont have to be trendcandles all of them but i need them to be consecutive)

And then some common rules as
- Not too big entry candle.
- Do not enter before NFP, CPI or FOMC.
I focus less on climatic. I also focus less on levels and more of the waves of the market.
- Entry candle should not be on the other side och on 10 EMA. ( if the imouls is climatic the candle usually go past 10 EMA)
- Only the first or the second pullback after emas was touching.
- I am allowed to take a seed in the impuls after the second pullback, but within the 1,2,3 first candles as the move is gone soon probably.

I think thats it.
his is the 100% objective plan i have been working on for myself to be confident when setting po´s. i have tried my best to eliminate the guesswork.
dont need to feel och sense anything and it is easy to follow for me.

HI Emma,
thank you so much for typing all this up!
I'm going to try your rules and see if I get the same trades as you did on EU in april.
Getting the guess work out as much as possible is what I want as well.
Do you stick to certain trading times?

I take trades between 09:00(LO) and 17:00 swedish time
You could take signals at FO as well but i am in car driving kids around at that time so i wont include them.

review batch 2 H1

Unread post by eaxh »

i am now done with my second batch on H1 i am not really satisfied with it.
It took 5 months to gather 20 trades.
I am doing something wrong.

Now also when looking at them i can see some that does not fit into all my rules.
When i see aims backtesting done on banana i have a hard time see when to trade and when not to trade.
The rules are to subjective for me.

Can it be that i have missed 1 5R winner? becuase in that case i would have har a +6R batch instead. Maybe i am doing nothing wrong, and the misstake i am about to make is that i want to change something. Maybe its just this batch thats just was not a winning one.

I mean... for only having a 20% winrate it is pretty awesome to be at BE.

hmm...anyway, i will ave to do some batcktesting on this period.

i just need to add that it works AMAZING on lower timeframes like M5. On H1 it works too but there are waaaay less trades(because of harder rules) than the banana rules. the bananarules is better for H1.

So... It has been some(read MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF) time that i have not posted.

I stopped journal here when my H1 trading stopped give me profits and when i realised that i did not understand the banana rules.  I just couldnt find a way to make it logic in my brain, i have tried!!

Then i started just trading forex on M5 and at first it went okey, i started to slowly work up the capital. And then it stopped work. My TOO mechanical way to trade the banana just did not work. I have done the research now and i see that it just does not work.
At that time , I was very close at giving up trading. I have thoughts like "there are other ways to make a living" " one can just work.. like everyone else.." I was kind of deep down emotionally as i know there is a way that it can work for me too.

After that.. MFF got their problem and were shut down. i couldnt really see a way out. I started to look at my old trading. I was looking at M1 again and then i saw the problem i had back then when i traded M1.

FIRST problem i can see is that i niched down too much, Like only taking 3 candle pullbacks, or no seeds and stuff like that.
SECOND OBVIOUS problem was THE CONTEXT.
And at that time i REALLY DIDNT UNDERSTAND why some trades just never worked. I looked to much at levels as well. it was like OH, that is FO low, its inpossible that this trade will work... and i end up not taking so many trades that was winners.
THIRD thing is that i was SO SCARED!! I looked at one candle in the bullish impuls that "looked bearish" so i did not take the PERFECT trade.

All this above lead to me often taking trades in the wrong context, missing OBVIOUS high momentum winners and my probability was backwards. That was the cause of me being in a massive DD.

Conclution of the break from M1.
I can now say that i am pretty good with assessing the context. I have a good understanding of that i cannot trade mechanical.
I see that trading forex on lower timeframe is not good, because of the commission.
I see the benefit of trading at the opens and after news. Why trade a slow forexpair all day with a strategy for momentum scalps?.

During these times i have started and lost an sagnifically amount of challenges, Desperate trying to make money again.

Now i have 4 challenges going. Focusing on 2 primarily.
The first two weeks of trading M1 againg now i have worked 2 (the 3rd is just3 R´s from BE and the 4th is at -7%)  out of four up to BE.

This was mostly a journal for myself, but also for others to see that you sometimes have to go to the darkest point to start to see the light again.
And that the Trading Game is not LEARN TRADING and THEN TRADE AND MAKE MONEY.. It takes time AND money.

I will be updating here more now. Not every day, but maybe one of the accounts at each end of the batch.

Happy trading all!!
