Re: Kyle's Journal Mk2
OK, NEO done, and a lot of watching with not much action. hindsight tells me that there was a great opportunity on m5 Fruit that didn't end up making a lot, but it was set up ready to make a killing on the move - if it happened for us.
Firstly, the main method - The Hunt Only three signals, and all filtered.
1. We had breakout from channel, but too far from channel. Filtered. If PO placed, it would have been cancelled anyway.
2. Same as 1 in all respects. Filtered.
3. Same as previous two. I want the price to move back towards gator.
After these three signals, price started to do just what I was hoping for it to do. It moved up a little and dropped, creating the zig zag pattern I like (and talk about lots). However, after the next bearish candle, a signal never came in, so there was not trades.
Many newer traders would say a waste of a session due to no trades, however, i was pretty happy with it. I did not take an invalid signal, passing on the three available. May have ended the session with no pips, but it could be interpreted as a DS=3/3 in many ways, as careful selection kept me away from incorrect trades.
S1/S2 There was possibly some opportunity, but I was not too keen on trading until there was some volatility on the charts. Early NEO did not provide that for me.
1. Valid in S1 rules and 13 pip SL, but no momentum so chose to filter. If taken, just over 1R was available, but I believed it to not be a high probability trade. Happy to have left it alone.
2. 13.8 pip SL and valid, however, we were trading in a range and did not look like a trending market, so happily stayed out of it. Happy with that decision in hindsight too. If taken, -0.5R would have resulted.
3. Still within range and not interested. SL would have been too high anyway (18.7)
4. Invalid trade with high AIMS (19.8 pips) and still in slop.
In hindsight, S1/S2 trades were happily left alone today. Fruit provided a good opportunity, although the end result was small. If it did take off, it would have been just about fully loaded and ready to take some very large gains.
1. Fruit signal on a W3 down, so not absolutely ideal (peak of W4) but valid with the angulation being very good.
Initial entry with 14 pip SL would have closed when candle closed on other side of green line for 14 pips profit (1R). It was as high as 2.65R
AIMS BO Add on had a 25 pip SL and would have closed with initial entry for 4 pips profit (0.16R). It was as high as 1.48R
Momentum Add on had a 11.2 pip SL inclusive of gap entry with close as with the above two entries for 4 pips profit (0.36R) and was as high as 3.3R
End result from the trade would have been 1+0.16+0.36=1.52R. Not much, but better than nothing and the potential was there for some big results. At its peak, it was holding 7.43R's - ready for massive gains. It will happen with the m5 Fruit, as it does quite often.
Time for bed and back again tomorrow for LO and hopefully even FO for fruits.
Day finished with a 2R and DS=1/1 for the day
Completed my lot of 20 for a perfect score. now, let's double that up in June \:D/

Re: Kyle's Journal Mk2
LO session for today. No trades at all, but here are the charts and descriptions of why trades were not taken.
Hunt 1. Channel is almost flat. No movement in the DAX this session and breakout was not very substantial. No trade
2. I would not have considered prior movement to be a breakout of channel at all, so trade was not taken. Could have easily been 2R, but I choose to trade and not gamble as such. Stick with high probability setups.
3. We did get the breakout, but no retracement, so no trade. If it was taken, it would have hit BE.
S1/S2 1. AIMS level OK, trading away from gator, A0 good. It was a valid trade, but I just wasn't interested due to a lack of movement in the charts. If taken (which would have been a DS=1 still), it would have been a very small rent.
2. Gator was open so no trade.
3. Gator almost sleeping, but not valid, although many may have bent the rule a bit on this one.
Hunt 1. Good angulation and PO placed, but trade was cancelled.
On to NEO

Re: Kyle's Journal Mk2
NEO session, although I did trade an m5 fruit just after NYO, but first;
Hunt 1. For me, not enough of a breakout. Seeds are a lower probability trade, so I want absolute CDLC for these setups, so passed. If taken, it would have been a -1R.
2. We did get a breakout, but a pretty impulsive move back to gator and some obvious weakness in the candles bringing the price down. Filtered. If taken, a BE would have resulted.
3. Still much weakness there which I didn't like. Filtered this one too. If taken, a -1R would have eventuated.
4. A bit of a breakout followed again by weakness. I would ahve filtered on that alone, but I was in a Fruit trade then, so no other trades were considered.
S1/S2 1. Only valid setup today, and was within the rules. I should have traded this, but not sure why I didn't. It was not due to indecision or filtering - I simply cannot recall it. If it was traded (which it was valid), it would have netted 0.5R on S1, and -0.25% on AIMS BO Add On for a trade total of 0.25R.
Fruit Three opportunities, with the second one still running, which i should have taken, but missed it.
1. This was after NYO but before NEO. had nice angulation. Took the trade and started quite well, even with Wave add-on ready, but fell to SL. DS=1. Next
2. This was a bit sneaky to the untrained eye. I saw it after immy said he was in it, but didn't recognise the angle did exist. At the time of writing this, it would have hit the trailing AIMS, with 1R on initial entry, BE on wave add-on, -0.1R on first AIMS breakout, and -0.4R for a result of just 0.5R. An in it to win it situation with bases pretty much loaded. had it have taken off, profits would have been large.
3. I may not have traded this if I was in trade 2. It was valid, with good angle. Took the PO short, but the market lost momentum and went sideways for a while before hitting SL. Still happy with the entry, so DS-1 on it.
The day ended up with two rents, and just -1R from it. A case of dipping the toes in the trading pool to see how it went and today, it didn't go where we (or I) wanted. No issue at all and happy with my selections, with the exception of the 2nd Fruit on NEO. I will learn from it though. Many lessons also taken from the Skype group today, both in some use of ATM and with trade selection/management.

Re: Kyle's Journal Mk2
Last entry to close out the week.
Did not trade LO at all. Had my son here for the weekend, so spent time with him (as I do every 2nd Friday), but I did participate a little in the skype chat, which proved quite beneficial for today (NFP day).
On NFP, I was until last month trading the "standard" News Strategy with Steves ea, where I set an order, both long and short, with a 10 pip SL and 20 pip TP one minute before news. This has been quite successful for me on NFP, but felt there was a lot left on the table.
Last month, I adjusted the TP to 30 pips, 3R's, however, Immy mentioned he sets his at 100 pips and some others mentioned they also use ATM on another EU screen, to manage the trade a bit. That got me thinking and decided for this NFP, I will place my usual 1% risk @ 10 pips stop, then set TP at 150 pips (right out of the way). Then opened up another EU chart with ATM on it and set SL to BE at 2:1, so if the trade hits 2:1, it becomes risk free (with the exception of slippage).
Waited for the news to come out and everything was placed as planned, and NFP gave us a beautiful clean long entry. Cancelled the short PO, and watched the trade, within seconds move SL to BE. Watched with my finger over the close trade button until the second candle closed after news, and then told ATM to trail candles for me. That was my last manual intervention on the trade, and it closed itself out just 7 minutes after the news release, with over 7% in the bank for the 1% risk trade \:D/
Of note here, was the 23 pip slip on the entry. had I have taken the trade at 2R or 3R like the last two months, then I would have had an instant close (plus slip) on the 2R trade and only 6 pips (plus slip) on the 3R trade, to eventually be very little in the profit stakes.
Very happy that I massaged the strategy on this a little bit. Turned a small profit week (0.66%) into a massive one for me (7.82%). I will be repeating this next month on NFP. The news trader absolutely allows you to set and forget the trade, but I feel the amalgamation of the news trader and ATM can help squeeze much more from the trade. Of note, I did close on trailing candles, but with even more breathing room, there was another 8R's available. I am more than satisfied with the trade as it was though :-bd
Given the result of this trade, and the start of NEO being a bit slow on setups, I quickly decided to rest on the efforts of the week and start the weekend early.
Surely, trading is one of the very few professions where you finish a week off, and look forward to Monday's "work" in the charts and in the chat room

Re: Kyle's Journal Mk2
Another quick one on my T20 performaces since I started checking against it.
T20-01 14/20 -8.8%
T20-02 16/20 3.76%
T20-03 16/20 -1.84%
T20-04 20/20 7.2%
I think it shows any less than 16/20 will have you at closeish to breakeven on returns, and 20/20 is obviously fantastic. This was almost exclusively with trades being set 2R profits, so as the fruit on m5 opens up for me, I'd expect that allowing winners to run will add more on the top end resulting in a breakeven line around 15/20, but would massively increase returns above that level.
Looking forward to becoming another AIMSter that makes this work very well for me - as well as becoming a very useful mentor in this forum/chat room

Re: Kyle's Journal Mk2
Wow, it has been very slack of me to not have posted my results here. I have been trading every day and seriously apologise for not posting. One of those things where you miss a few days, and think "I will catch up those days and get back on to it" but it did not happen - sorry.
I have saved my screenshots, so I will put all of them up, but will not be with notes as such, and from today, I will make amends and add notes. I'll put my monthly summary at the end of all the charts - best month ever by a long way. Good with hunt, but News has given things a big turbo boost as you will see.
