Jay's Trading Journal

Unread post by jaycrocker1 »

Hello all,

I am Jay Crocker. The new admin on the iTradeAIMS website and Discord.

I'm from a small town northeast Texas but have been living in Brazil the past two and half years and now traveling around south America. Right now my family and I are in Buenos Aires.

I have been trading for eight years but always struggled with sticking to my trading plan. Upon finding AIMS I really like the trading style and want to use the Banana method/strategy to pass the FTMO challenge so I can stop risking my own money and still continue to make a living as a trader.

Looking to pass couple Free FTMO trial runs in a row before I go for the paid real challenge. I'll be starting the Free trial challenge next week.

I have my 52 question trading plan written up (Thank you Immy for this) and now I just need to stick to it.

I will be adding charts and discipline scores on a regular basis starting next week as well.

Been travelling and started trading for the week yesterday afternoon.

took 2 rents, 1 in the us100 and 1 in us500. Happened around the same time.

I thought they had potential but this was where it ended up turning around and going much lower. It was a wash of the area I had drwan.

but that's ok, I consider both of these ds1 for yesterday.

Trades 4/20

Unread post by jaycrocker1 »

Wow, today was tough. Mostly because Steve's snorm was having a hard time conenecting and when I would click a button to enter, nothing would happen for at least 30 seconds and then the PO would appear. I am pretty sure it's my internet as we are in a new apartment today.

But difficulty with the ATM did it's damage today. I got frustated and took 3 losses and 1 BE.

However there was at least one instance where a missed a 3:1 trade because the ATM manager was taking forever to load the PO.

Lesson learned. If ATM is acting weird. Just wait until it works itself out before trading anything.

You can see in the GER40 chart it says "connection error" in the top left. And it looks like I entered a ton of times, but those were just PO that I ended up canceling before I finally got one trade in on the GER40.
I feel like this one was a ds1 even though I probably could have filtered it because it was the end of the day by then for the German market and probably could have guessed that the moves were done for the day in that market.

US100 was on the M5 and it tried to go. Also going to call this one a ds1. Took it on the 2nd pullback, so I believe still valid.

And then there were 2 trades on XAUUSD. I know gold isn't something folks trade normally here at AIMS but it is a market I'm used to.
1st one was on the 5 min, I liked it because it broke and area and then pullback to test the area and gave a signal, although, I probably could have filtered this one as well. Climatic move. I only like to take those when its a doje directly after the climatic bar. I'm going with ds0 here.

2nd XAUUSD trade was on the M15. This trade was better, almost hit may stop before launching out and then almost hitting my target before coming back to BE.

A tough day for sure, but really it was 3 ds1 out of 4 so that's pretty good really.

I am down almost 5% these past two days. That's the rough part. But I know I would have had at least one winner today if my internet was better and the ATM didn't hesistate. I was looking at USDJPY and there was at least 2 times where I tried to enter on the M5 but the ATM wasn't cooperating! Ugh, so pissed.  :wits

So, knowing that if the internet was better I would have been BE or up for the day, I'm feeling more confident and better about tomorrow and next week.   :peace

The thing that makes me money in trading is when I "Objectively Follow my Trading Plan".

I understand that I can't catch all the moves or all the signals but my objective is to catch THE VALID SIGNALS & ONLY the Valid Signals.

Alright I am commiting to starting from today June 1st 2023 to post in my journal every day I trade.

This month I'm also working on only trading the H1, H4, or D1 charts. Going to see how it goes this month.

Started off with 3 losses this month. I have been taking trade after a climatic move and this is what needs to change.
Also I don't believe I will hold overnight anymore unless my SL is already at BE. The spreads are just too wide.

Take this UC trade on the end of today for instance. I got big slippage on this one.

Made an EU trade around the same time and this was an example of me taking the trade when the market is waaaay overstretched.
I see what I liked about it. It had just broken out of an area. But that was really the only thing is had going for it. Need to follow the Banana flow chart. I thought I had those rules and filters internalized. But it appears not to be the case quite yet.

And then a UJ trade at toward the end of the day as well that had a double seed. This was also a bit overstretched I believe but I think it was the best of a bad bunch.

I am going to give myself ds0 for all of my trades today because I believe all of them were taken after climatic moves.

I am adjust to trading on the slower timeframe for sure.

So far 0 for 20 on this batch of T20. But it's only the first day of this new batch.

No more climatic moves and no more trading overnight unless I am already at BE.

Live and learn. On to the next.

From Friday June 2nd:

Alright, I feel a bit silly, but I have already decided to abandon the "only H1 for a month" experiment. hahaha

I am just going to do it how @MiroII does it and keep 2 sets of results. One for the H1 and another for M5/M15-H1. After my rough go at the H1 yesterday.

Anyway, today's trades: 1st trade was a GJ on the M15 trade that I entered a bit late. So because of this and because it didn't look like to me the market would go all the way to 5R before the close of the day, I took profit at 2R. 2nd was USOIL on M15, I was way late to the party on this seed entry. The better seed to enter on was about an hour and a half before the one I entered on. I still was thinking oil had room to run though. Knowing that oil can run several full dollars in a day, I didn't thinking this trade was too bad. I didn't feel the market was too overextended for oil. 3rd was XAUUSD on M5, I saw the market had broken and was staying below the 50EMA on the H1 so I looked down on the M15 didn't see any way of getting so I took it down to M5 and saw what appeared to be the end of a 3rd Wave getting ready for a 5th Wave. Was able to enter on time and bank 5R. After that it went for more than 9R but that's ok because my 5R was right where there was an area to the left.

Total 6R today

Trade's from Monday. June 5, 2023
-2.5R on the day

Nas trade on M5. Not a bad trade here. Almost got to 2R then hit rent -1R
S&P trade on M1, this was not a good trade. Getting in on the M1 the EA of course gave me a terrible entry. If I had gotten a proper entry right above the 2nd seed with stop right behind that bar it would have easliy hit 2R at least. But this is why I don't trade M1. Entries from the EA on M1 are often terrible. ds0 b/c m1 does not fit my plan. But at least minized risk. -0.5R
USOIL entered super late after the signal and got in because of fomo. ds0 -1R
XAUUSD good trade was looking for a wave 5 hit BE

Trades from Tuesday June 6, 2023
-4R today overtraded
GU M5 ds0 entered at the end of wave 5.
GER40 M5 ds0 was anticipating a break out of an area instead of waiting for the area to break. It eventually went in the direction I was anticipating but it stopped me out first.
USDCAD H1 ds0 again anticipating a break out of an area, this one also did break out in the direction I thought it would be stopped me out first. This is why we don't anticipate.
UJ M15 I thhink this was ok wtith the rules and filters of the Banana
