Here is a quick one.
If you are as lazy like me and you like measuring pips using the crosshair tool, do this:
Instead of reaching up to the toolbar to select the crosshair tool, simply click your mouse wheel (middle button) on the chart. Your crosshair is activated and ready to measure those pips you plan to rake in.
(Hopefully your mouse have a mouse-wheel.)
Oh, almost forgot to mention. To de-select the cross-hair again, just right click your mouse and your pointer is back.

This is my personal favourite. I wont be able to trade if I did not do this. . My charts, as you might have noticed from the videos, always have cross hair on. Simply press the wheel and cross hair appears. I count pips by moving my cross hair to desired location and press and hold and drag left key. its great tool
Thank for sharing buddy!

What is the Secret of Successful Trading?
The Consistent Pursuit of DS1
The thing that makes me money in trading is when I "Objectively Follow my Trading Plan".
I understand that I can't catch all the moves or all the signals but my objective is to catch THE VALID SIGNALS & ONLY the Valid Signals.
You just saved me "hours & hours" of scrolling time, with the fixed chart position solution.
Many thanks for this,
Bruce H
BTW looks like I won't be catching up with AIMS as much as I thought until I relocate in Thailand this September'ish. But it's been fun lurking here'n there just to try and keep brushed up. Have a great weekend everyone.
Fixed chart position was a new thing. Thanks for telling this and it's very useful feature. Started to use it immediately.
Also on iPad sometimes it's very slow to get crosshair visible - depends on RDP client configuration. Remoter VNC application has macro recording feature and I have recorded a macro for pressing CTRL+F key combination (keyboard shortcut for crosshair). You can get crosshair easily and quite fast by running the macro.
I really like the control-f for crosshair. I have two mice, both the same company, same driver and one did crosshair on pressing the scroll button, the other one not, but now I could program this explicitly : Works !
Thanks !

Herbert wrote:MT4 Tip 4
Manipulating a Chart in MT4
What i really like about some other charting packages is the ability to drag the chart in any direction instantly using you mouse. With MT4, chart scale is on auto-default.
So you cannot look at the chart to the lower or higher of the candles if you want to.
Also, sometimes the auto range of chart height, can squeeze your candles flat on some parts, especially if there is a recent significant run lower or higher.
If you are interested in your price action (candle formations) like me, you may want to zoom to the specific candles without auto-scale preventing you to.
Here is what you can do:
1. Right click on the chart.
2. Select properties.
3. Place a tick in the Scale fix box.
4. Click ok.
Now you are set. If you click and hold on the chart you are able to drag the chart up or down.
To get a range of "flat" candles to zoom in height, when you now place and drag your mouse on the right-hand side price scale, you can enlarge vertical scale, where before, you can only shrink it.
Note: Just remember this may keep you at candle height scales which you may not be used to.
If you want to restore chart scaling and auto-scale, just repeat above steps and remove the tick from the Scale fix box. Your chart will be as before.
