Usefull MT4 Tips
Here is a MT4 tip i have never seen until now. When u are on a timeframe and now want to see the same time and date on a different timeframe, MT4 would shunt you away from that point. Then you have to mark the spot and scroll back again to find it. Very frustrating!!!
Do the following to make it easier... See pics.
1. Go to TF you want to see. I marked it with yellow vertical (just for illustration, no need to do)
2. Unselect chart scroll. Then on bottom left corner of chart a triangle will appear, called "fixed chart position".
If you use AIMS background, or do not see the triangle, change grid colour to different than background...
3. Drag the triangle to where you want to focus.
4. Now flip to different TF and the chart will centre where you had the triangle. A fixed chart position on TF.

MT4 Tip 2
Copying or extending trend-lines:
If you want to copy a trend-line, or any other object:
a. Select the object
b. Hold down the Ctrl button, then drag the object with your mouse to new location.
It will leave the original object behind and have a copy of it for you to drop on the chart.
If you have drawn a trend-line from ex. swing-low to higher swing-low, you can now extend that line:
a. Select the trend-line
b. Hold down the Shift button, then drag the end of the line you want extended with your mouse. This way the line will extend, but not move while you are doing it.
Note: If your trend-lines are already fully extended when you draw it, and you want it to be only as long as you draw it, you have to disable the Ray parameter by:
a. Select trend-line
b. Select properties
c. Select Parameters tab
d. Remove tick on Ray box

Re: Usefull MT4 Tips
MT4 Tip 4
Manipulating a Chart in MT4
What i really like about some other charting packages is the ability to drag the chart in any direction instantly using you mouse. With MT4, chart scale is on auto-default.
So you cannot look at the chart to the lower or higher of the candles if you want to.
Also, sometimes the auto range of chart height, can squeeze your candles flat on some parts, especially if there is a recent significant run lower or higher.
If you are interested in your price action (candle formations) like me, you may want to zoom to the specific candles without auto-scale preventing you to.
Here is what you can do:
1. Right click on the chart.
2. Select properties.
3. Place a tick in the Scale fix box.
4. Click ok.
Now you are set. If you click and hold on the chart you are able to drag the chart up or down.
To get a range of "flat" candles to zoom in height, when you now place and drag your mouse on the right-hand side price scale, you can enlarge vertical scale, where before, you can only shrink it.
Note: Just remember this may keep you at candle height scales which you may not be used to.
If you want to restore chart scaling and auto-scale, just repeat above steps and remove the tick from the Scale fix box. Your chart will be as before.

MT4 Tip 5
Selecting the Crosshair fast.
Here is a quick one.
If you are as lazy like me and you like measuring pips using the crosshair tool, do this:
Instead of reaching up to the toolbar to select the crosshair tool, simply click your mouse wheel (middle button) on the chart. Your crosshair is activated and ready to measure those pips you plan to rake in.
(Hopefully your mouse have a mouse-wheel.)
Oh, almost forgot to mention. To de-select the cross-hair again, just right click your mouse and your pointer is back.

Re: Usefull MT4 Tips
Here is another: Sluggish MT4 platform.
I have found my MT4 platform getting sluggish, jerky while navigating charts. I am also an avid online gamer, so my equipment is pretty powerful and speed is paramount.....
)
The sluggish MT4 apparently got to do with the amount of historical data that your platform accumulates over time. Some indicators has to then work through all this data.
Here is a youtube video with instructions on how to correct this and keep it from happening. I am not advocating the broker mentioned, just communicating the tips given: I just did mine and speed is back to normal..
