Brokers

Unread post by franky »

Hi,

I would be very interested in getting feedback on what brokers the experienced traders on here use. As slippage and spread are so important, especially when trading the smaller timeframes.

Also wondering if any of the aimsters/more experienced traders.......utilise spreadbetting and again who do you use ?

Thanks,
Franky

Hi,

These days its important to know your location before one can suggest a broker. I cannot advise which broker to use, having said I can confirm that I use Alpari and was thinking of having additional accounts with Smart Live. Smart Live is the only Spread Betting Forex Broker who provides MT4 platform. But now I have learned that Alpair is going to start an mt4 based spread betting as well. If that happens I'll say bye bye to Smart Live. I trust Alpari more than anything. We use only pending orders and normally a broker should not have slippages for pending orders but if you do than time to move.

cheers

I was with Alpari UK and had all sorts of problems especially as I was not able to upgrade the build from 225. I beleive they can be trusted but I had freezes and all sorts. If they have upgraded i may go back with them. This forum is so informative..

Dennis!

IMHO Alpari has been the best broker for me so far. Not a single issue. Upgrading your MT4 issue might have been more to do with your User Account Settings in Windows. it is a known issue for Vista OS that MT4 used to get stuck. For those using Vista, if you go to user control settings and turn it off then start MT4 it will do its live update. then if you like you can turn those security settings back on.

Thanks Immy,

What it was I had a micro account and wasnt allowed to upgrade from 225 or 229 when my other accounts with other brokers were at build 400 odd.
That same account is allowed to be upgraded now and runs a lot smoother.

Thanks for your answer though as Alpari is well regulated and I will go back. I did have a robot that kept doubling the account every 24 hours ( demo) and wondered if I wasnt welcome in case it went live :))

Hi Immy,

how was your experience with Smart Live (recently been re named)? I had an account with them and after about 6 trades I closed the account. Nothing but re-quotes. I use Tradefair (besides other MT4 accounts), they have been excellent.

Happy trading.

Nick :)
