Perfect setup 1 on M1 but against purple on M5
Hi guys,
I'd like to know what's best to do if there's a perfect setup 1 on M1 chart but it's against the purple line of M5. Do most of you take it? If not, why?
Thanks

One of the rules of the system is not to trade against the purple line so I don't. I know it can be frustrating when there is a good setup against purple and it takes off but trading against purple is trading against the 5 min trend and more often than not it will result in a loss.

I didn't mean trading against purple in M1 but against purple of M5. I understand that trading against purple in M1 is taboo

Sometimes there is a perfect setup in M1 (the purple is correct, AO is low, etc) but upon checking, it's actually trading into the purple of M5 hence against the trend of M5.
So how about that? Do you take it or leave it?
Thanks!

Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying.
To be honest I don't look at the purple line on the 5min chart. I simply look at the 1min purple and look at the alligator on 5min and trade in that direction. I would be interested to see what others have to say about this.

we don't use Purple of M5 - it would show the trend on the 25 minute chart! Purple is solely intended for use on M1 so you can ignore it on M5 and trade away.
cheers

Re: Perfect setup 1 on M1 but against purple on M5
Hi,
I made some bad experience with trading against purple of M5 and try to avoid it since, especially not for a few pips.
But it doesn't happen very often, if you go back the M5 chart looking for everything between red and purple.
You need space, that a real impulse wave can develop, so if M5 purple is very far away, I will try the next time.

Hi Steve,
I just wondered if it were possible to modify the Alligator so that the purple doesnt show on other TFs if reqd., i.e If it doesnt apply why show it?
It would be kinda like "Visualisation" tab but of course that makes the whole Aliigator disappear on other TFs too,
What dya think? Maybe a bool for it?

I can't speak for Imran or the AIMS strategy but I can tell you that the purple MA is very important across ALL time frames. I have been using a very similar line to the purple MA in all my longer term methods for years. I use it as a balance line.
I know that when I am trading towards it, it is counter trend and tells me to reduce my position sizing. Many times, the purple acts as resistance or support and in a trending market is a very good place to add on.
When price breaks through the purple line, it often does so with momentum and for me, is a great place to initiate or add on trades.
For those who don't see the value of it I would recommend putting it on all your charts on all different time frames and watching how price reacts (or doesn't) to it.
Sorry for the interruption.

Re: Perfect setup 1 on M1 but against purple on M5
I could take purple off, for the higher timeframes - I might make that an option in the future.
In the meantime, you know you can apply two copies of the indicator to the same chart?
On the one indi, you change the purple setting (in 'colors') to make it barely visible; in the 'visualization' settings change to show everything except M1.
Do the opposite for the other indi.
cheers
